Frequently asked questions
What must a French building quote contain?
Your full company details (SIRET, legal form, address), the client's details, the word « devis », a date and reference number, the validity period, an itemised breakdown, the net total, VAT per rate and the gross total, payment terms, and ten-year insurance where it applies. It also needs space for the handwritten approval line. Aidifis templates include all of this by default.
Can a signed quote become an invoice automatically?
Yes. On a quote marked Signed, a « Convert to invoice » button creates a pre-filled invoice: every line, the amount, the client and the project. It arrives as a draft so you can adjust it before issuing. Once issued, the quote is marked Converted and the link between both documents is kept.
How do reduced French VAT rates work on a quote?
The rate depends on the work and the dwelling: 10% for renovation, improvement and maintenance of a home completed more than two years ago, 5.5% for energy renovation under the same conditions, 20% by default. Aidifis handles several rates within one quote, line by line. For a reduced rate the client must certify that the dwelling qualifies.
Is an electronically signed quote legally valid?
Yes. The client signs from a unique link, with no account to create and nothing to print. The signature is timestamped and the signer's IP address is recorded, which corresponds to a « simple » electronic signature under the European eIDAS regulation — the level normally used for building work.
Will my quotes be ready for French e-invoicing?
Yes. From 1 September 2026 every company must be able to receive invoices electronically; from 1 September 2027 small and medium companies must also issue them. A quote created in Aidifis becomes an invoice in the required format, transmitted through an approved platform, with nothing technical for you to handle.
